A resident of the Osh region was fined for keeping a red-listed golden eagle

Environmental supervision staff discovered a case of illegal keeping of a golden eagle in the Kara-Kulja district of Kyrgyzstan, according to information provided by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.

Information about the violation was forwarded to the Osh regional office of the Environmental Supervision Service on January 27. As a result of a joint operation with the "Bars-2" group, inspectors were able to identify the owner of the bird.

This rare bird, included in the Red Book of the Kyrgyz Republic, was kept in a private home of a local resident. Thanks to the joint efforts of government agencies and ecologists from the NABU organization, the golden eagle was returned to its natural habitat.

Following the inspection, an official protocol was drawn up under Article 262-1 of the Code of Offenses, and the man was fined 20,000 soms.
