Sydyk worked in the 6th department of the GKNB and was a close associate of Eldar Jakypbekov, who was arrested the day before, on February 15.

It should be noted that the 6th department of the GKNB is engaged in the investigation of particularly important cases, including high-level corruption. After the dissolution of the Anti-Corruption Committee in 2021, its powers were significantly expanded. In 2024, a new investigation was initiated against a number of employees of this department.
