Halushchenko was removed from a train when border guards acted on a request from NABU and SAP to obtain information in case of his attempt to cross the border.
From 2021 until July 2025, Herman Halushchenko served as Minister of Energy and was later appointed Minister of Justice. In November of last year, amid a corruption scandal involving businessman Timur Mindich, the Verkhovna Rada decided to dismiss Halushchenko and then-Minister of Energy Svitlana Hrynchuk. They were suspected of involvement in corrupt schemes at "Energoatom".
Halushchenko's detention occurred on the same day he attempted to cross the border, as confirmed by sources from Ukrainian publications.
According to case materials, the ex-minister benefited from using Mindich's influence over President Zelensky. Anti-corruption authorities confirmed that Halushchenko's detention is related to the case involving Mindich.
Halushchenko has already been charged in connection with the Mindich case, as reported by members of the Verkhovna Rada.
NABU is investigating corruption schemes involving high-ranking officials, including issues related to the state enterprise "Energoatom". According to the investigation, these schemes were organized by Timur Mindich, who is accused of extorting "kickbacks" for contracts by leveraging his close ties to the head of state.
On November 28, 2025, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on the dismissal of the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak.
