The suspect is accused of extorting a bribe
During a joint operation of the General Prosecutor's Office and the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), a high-profile prosecutor's official suspected of extortion was arrested.
On February 1, the deputy prosecutor of one of the districts in the Talas region, known as S.K.O., was detained while receiving a bribe of 140,000 soms (approximately 1,600 US dollars).
According to information from the GKNB, this official created a corrupt scheme by exerting pressure on individuals under probation. Investigative authorities claim that the prosecutor demanded 2,000 dollars, threatening to otherwise initiate a review of lenient sentences towards actual prison terms.
Currently, the suspect is being held in the temporary detention facility of the GKNB, and an investigation is underway to determine the possible involvement of other officials in this corrupt activity.
