During counterintelligence activities, law enforcement officers received information about the illegal activities of a citizen named Ch.R.Zh., who was posing as an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD).
According to the investigation, this individual, using his fictitious connections with the leadership of the MVD, managed to gain the trust of a person involved in a criminal case currently being examined by the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Sverdlovsk District. He deceitfully extorted 500 dollars from him. Moreover, the suspect informed the victim that he would soon be arrested and that only he could influence the investigative actions. As a result, he demanded an additional 2000 dollars for "resolving the issue."
This crime has been classified under Article 343 ("Extortion of a Bribe") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. On February 18 in Bishkek, Ch.R.Zh. was detained while receiving 45,000 soms. He has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
Currently, an investigation is underway to identify other possible accomplices.
