According to the new recommendations, the definitions of categories of victims have been changed:
- The category "Deceased" now includes those who died at the scene of the accident or within 30 days due to injuries sustained, which must be confirmed by a forensic examination.
- Individuals hospitalized for at least one day or who sought medical assistance within three days after the accident, with documented evidence linking the injury to the accident, will be classified as "Injured."
- A new category "Others" has been introduced, which includes people with minor injuries (e.g., abrasions and bruises) that do not require hospitalization. Data on such cases will be recorded separately and will not be included in the main state statistics on traffic accidents.
It is also worth noting that traffic accidents in which passengers fall in a moving bus or trolleybus without any violations by the driver or other road users will no longer be included in the official statistics. This rule also applies to cases of injuries caused by lawful actions of employees who stopped the vehicle.
The changes will come into effect in a week.
According to the latest data, in 2024, there were 7,423 registered traffic accidents in Kyrgyzstan, resulting in the deaths of 514 people. In the first nine months of 2025, 9,078 accidents were recorded, claiming the lives of 636 people.
