Kyrgyzstan has received a new batch of food aid, as reported by the World Food Programme (WFP) of the United Nations.

More than 1,147 tons of food products have been delivered to warehouses in Bishkek and Osh. “This support will help vulnerable families across the country through projects aimed at restoring public infrastructure, adapting to climate change, and providing hot meals in educational institutions,” the official statement said.

To enhance food security, about 4,600 families participating in initiatives supported by the WFP will receive fortified wheat flour and vegetable oil. These projects include the restoration of irrigation and drinking water supply systems, tree planting, and riverbank reinforcement to reduce risks, as well as training on increasing resilience to disasters and implementing advanced agricultural practices.

Vulnerable families included in the program will receive 300 kg of fortified flour and 30 liters of oil in exchange for participating in community projects aimed at restoring local infrastructure and increasing resilience to the impacts of climate change. Participants in capacity-building training will also be provided with 150 kg of fortified flour and 15 liters of oil.
