As noted by Roskomnadzor, if WhatsApp does not start adhering to Russian laws, its operations in the country may be completely halted. "The continuation of restrictions against the messenger is inevitable," added representatives of the agency.
Currently, there is a significant slowdown in the operation of WhatsApp in Russia — its functioning speed has decreased by 70-80%, according to sources from RBC in the telecommunications sector. Users in various cities, including Moscow, report glitches and interruptions in the app's performance.
Roskomnadzor had previously spoken about the possibility of a complete blockade of WhatsApp on November 28.
