Every winter, Lake Dolon freezes over, allowing local residents to enjoy ice skating.
“We started skating as soon as the lake froze, but so far only around the edges. When the ice becomes stronger, we will be able to go out to the middle. Before that, a special inspection will be conducted, and only after that will we be allowed to skate in the center,” local residents share.
According to the villagers, freezing on Lake Dolon usually begins in late November, and the ice remains until March. A full skating season begins in mid-December.

Hockey tournaments are also organized on the frozen lake.
Previously, a resident of the village, Daniyar Turdumambetov, noted to Turmush that every family in Dolon has skates. Local residents, from first-graders to 60-year-olds, actively come to skate on the lake.
He added that skating on this natural rink has been ongoing for about 15 years.
