In 2009, the South Korean government launched the Global Hansik program aimed at promoting Korean cuisine beyond the country's borders. Initially, this project faced criticism; however, subsequent research confirmed that in the first half of the 2010s, interest in Korean cuisine significantly increased in major international cities, reports BBC News.

Today, Korean cuisine is an integral part of the global K-movement: cooking shows on Netflix are becoming popular, and interest in Korean dishes abroad continues to grow.

In the United Kingdom, for example, searches for "Korean barbecue" have increased by 60 percent, sales of gochujang have risen by 70 percent, and kimchi has become one of the most sought-after imported products.
