An extended meeting of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan took place on December 31, where plans for reforming religious education were discussed, reported the press service of the Spiritual Administration.

The main topic of discussion was the implementation of the instructions of President Sadyr Japarov, voiced at the IV People's Kurultai. In particular, the focus was on the standardization of religious educational institutions, their centralization, and the improvement of education quality.

The meeting was attended by the leadership of the Spiritual Administration, heads of departments, as well as representatives of the Muftiyat from regions and cities, including specialists in this field.
Two key issues were on the agenda: the introduction of unified standards for religious education and the centralization of educational institutions.
During the discussion, it became known that new internal standards for secondary and higher religious education, as well as corresponding curricula, have already been developed and approved for the 2025–2026 academic year. Regional leaders were instructed to actively implement them.

In addition, participants were presented with a concept for the creation of regional central religious educational institutions.

As a result of the meeting, it was decided to intensify the implementation of the new standards approved on December 1, 2025. The responsibility for the implementation of these standards was assigned to the district khatibiyats, and oversight will be carried out by regional representatives. They were also tasked with preparing proposals for the opening of central religious educational institutions at the regional and district levels, including options for their Kyrgyz names.
According to the National Agency for Religious Affairs and Interethnic Relations, there are 4,441 registered religious facilities in Kyrgyzstan, of which 4,048 are Muslim. Among them are more than 100 madrasahs, about 10 Islamic institutes, and one Islamic university.
