Every year, snowboarding attracts more people in Kyrgyzstan, but with the growing number of enthusiasts comes an increased risk of injuries due to typical beginner mistakes. Experienced instructors recommend following a few basic rules for a safe start:
Consult professionals. Self-teaching can lead to incorrect techniques and dangerous falls. The best way to start is to take lessons from a certified instructor.
Safe gear is the key to protection. Regular jeans and sweatshirts get wet quickly and do not retain heat. It’s better to choose specialized membrane clothing. Also, keep in mind that bright gear makes you more visible to other skiers and snowboarders.
Correct movement technique. The basic stance should have slightly bent knees for cushioning. It’s important to remember: when falling, do not extend your hands, as this often leads to wrist fractures.
Gradual learning. Don’t rush to try “black” runs or snow parks. Difficult slopes and jumps should only be attempted after you have confidently learned basic turns and stopping.
By following these simple recommendations, you can enjoy riding in the mountains and take pleasure in the process while avoiding unnecessary visits to the doctor.
