The Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic expressed concern about the potential shortage of water resources and appealed to farmers to implement water-saving technologies.
“Due to climate conditions and reduced precipitation during the 2026 growing season, there may be a lack of water. As a result, irrigation volumes will be limited, and some regions may face a shortage of water resources,” the ministry noted.
The agency offered farmers various measures to optimize water consumption:
to use modern water-saving technologies, such as drip and sprinkler irrigation;
to grow crops that require less water;
to plant drought-resistant seeds.
“Farmers can contact local agricultural development offices or consult with ministry specialists on water supply issues. During the irrigation season, the ministry will ensure the fair distribution of water resources,” the statement added.
