The Head of the President's Office, Kanaybek Tumanbaev, spoke on January 26 on his social media regarding the dissatisfaction expressed by representatives of private driving schools. He announced the start of a comprehensive reform in the field of driver training and the issuance of licenses.

Tumanbaev noted: “We must honestly acknowledge that in the past, some private driving schools were essentially selling driver's licenses. This led to terrible consequences, such as thousands of traffic accidents.” According to him, the situation on the roads remains alarming: in 2025, there is an increase in the number of traffic accidents and fatalities compared to 2024. “When we get behind the wheel, the responsibility lies not only with us but with all participants in road traffic. Driving is a serious responsibility,” he emphasized.

Additionally, Tumanbaev reported that the owners of private driving schools have been warned about the upcoming changes. He shared that meetings with the leaders of these driving schools took place at “Yntymak Ordo,” where they were thoroughly informed about the planned reforms.

A key aspect of the reform will be the revision of the training system: now, trainees will only be able to learn in driving schools that are under state control. Tumanbaev emphasized that these changes are not directed against all private driving schools; on the contrary, qualified specialists will be involved in the state system.

From mid-February 2026, applications will be accepted under the new curriculum and approved standards. “These reforms are not aimed against anyone — they are necessary to save people's lives. We will definitely bring order,” the Head of the President's Office concluded.
