The Bishkek City Hall reports on the current situation regarding the appeals from local residents of the village of Novopavlovka concerning the possible relocation of the cemetery at the intersection of Korsakova and Profsoyuznaya streets.

According to data from the Municipal Enterprise "Bishkek Funeral Services Agency," if a decision is made to build a road through the cemetery, it will be necessary to reinter 1,364 bodies, of which 227 are Muslim and 1,137 are Christian burials. It is worth noting that the burials took place before 2024.

The Bishkek Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance also stated that the cemetery area may pose a sanitary hazard due to potential soil contamination from decomposition products and microorganisms that can persist in the ground for a long time.

In accordance with the law "On Public Health," the sanitary and epidemiological service does not recommend exhuming graves to avoid the risk of infectious diseases among the population.

The City Hall emphasizes that it acts strictly within the framework of the law and in the interests of citizens. In this regard, the municipality urges residents to rely only on official sources of information.

It was previously reported that the residents of Novopavlovka received a notification from the municipal territorial administration No. 106 regarding the situation with the road construction on Profsoyuznaya Street. The MTA noted that two options for implementing the project are currently being considered — through the cemetery or around it, but a final decision has not yet been made.

Local residents have begun collecting signatures demanding to stop the demolition of the cemetery. The petition posted online has already gathered signatures from more than a thousand people.
