Mirbek Barkalbasov has recently become the new chairman of the Veterans Council of the Tyup District in the Issyk-Kul Region.

Previously, this position was held by retired police lieutenant colonel Aldayrov Adylbek Aldayrovich, who submitted a resignation letter.

Mirbek Barkalbasov, born on April 9, 1962, in Frunze (now Bishkek), is a retired police lieutenant colonel.

From 1969 to 1979, he studied at the school in the village of Oryuktu, which was part of Przhevalsk. In 1979, he enrolled in an agricultural institute in Frunze but soon left his studies to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

For a year, he worked in the electric networks, after which, in 1981, he entered the Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR in Karaganda and graduated in 1985, after which he began working in the Internal Affairs Department of the Tyup District.

From 1986 to 1990, he worked as a senior operative in the OBKhSS, and until 1997 he held the position of deputy head of the Internal Affairs Department of the Tyup District.

In December 2008, he retired after a long service in the internal affairs bodies of the Tyup District and the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul Region.

With his wife Gulmira Bakirova, they raised four children — two sons and two daughters, and they also have a grandson.

Lieutenant Colonel Barkalbasov recalled his work in the OBKhSS during a conversation with a Turmush correspondent. He mentioned that during inspections of large stores aimed at preventing economic crimes, they encountered various situations. In particular, he recalled an incident when, during an inspection of one of the saleswomen, who turned out to be hiding money, she attempted to dispose of the evidence by swallowing it right in front of him.
