In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of people in Kyrgyzstan who have been victims of domestic violence and have obtained protection orders.
According to data provided by the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic and based on information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the number of such cases has risen from 2,093 in 2009 to 14,362 by 2024. This means that over 15 years, this figure has increased almost sevenfold.

More than 13,000 of these victims are women. In 2024, among all registered cases, 13,593 are women, while men account for 769.
A particularly sharp increase has been observed since 2016: in 2016, there were 7,005 victims recorded, in 2017 — 7,323, and in 2018 — 7,178. The number of cases continued to rise in subsequent years.

The highest number of requests for help has been registered in the capital, Bishkek, where 5,536 victims were recorded in 2023. High figures are also noted in the Chui, Osh, and Jalal-Abad regions.

Experts believe that the increase in statistics may be attributed to both a rise in the number of violence cases and greater public awareness of the possibility of seeking protection, as well as more active enforcement of protection orders.
