At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 15, Deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva expressed concern that protection orders are most often issued only to women, while all family members suffer from domestic violence.

She emphasized that in many cases, protection orders are merely a formality and inquired about effective mechanisms for their implementation.

Kultaeva noted: "The number of cases of domestic violence is increasing every day. Although protection orders are issued to the affected women, they often remain without real protection. What measures are being taken for their enforcement and why are other family members not protected?"

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Erkebek Ashirkhodzhaev supported the deputy's opinion, pointing to the rise in cases of violence in Kyrgyzstan. He noted that legislation has tightened penalties for violence against women and children, and efforts are being made to improve the mechanisms for applying protection orders.

Kultaeva also asked whether officials are held accountable for inadequate responses to such cases.

The deputy minister responded that if an employee has committed violations or shown negligence, they will be held accountable. "Every case of domestic violence is under control," he added.

In conclusion, the deputy requested statistics on domestic violence for the past six months.
