During a working meeting between the Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Damir Osmonov, and Alexandra Solovyova, the UNDP Resident Representative, important aspects of ensuring the republic's healthcare system with medicines were discussed. The main focus was on preparations for the new grant cycle of the Global Fund, aimed at combating diseases such as AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
According to the Ministry of Health, during the meeting, participants addressed issues related to the procurement and supply of medical goods, as well as equipment for healthcare organizations. Currently, under the auspices of UNDP, necessary procurement procedures are ongoing to ensure timely delivery of products to medical institutions.
Additionally, logistics and the sequence of medical goods deliveries in accordance with existing cooperation programs were discussed.
One of the key topics of the negotiations was the preparation of Kyrgyzstan's application for a new grant from the Global Fund. Given the country's rising income, a gradual reduction in donor funding is expected, which will require an increase in the share of national funds in financing public health programs.
The first stage of the grant application process will begin in early June. A working group consisting of national experts has been established to prepare the necessary documents. UNDP, acting as the implementing agency for several programs, will continue to provide the necessary expert and technical assistance in preparing the application and implementing related activities.
At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness for further cooperation aimed at the sustainable development of public health programs, including the fight against tuberculosis and HIV, as well as strengthening the system of medicine supply.
