
The Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kanbek Dosmambetov, held a meeting with Alexandra Solovieva, the UNDP Resident Representative in the country, as reported by the ministry's press service.
The interlocutors discussed important aspects of cooperation, considering priorities in the development of the healthcare system until 2030. Significant attention was paid to issues of institutional strengthening of the sector, development of human resources, digitalization of medical services, and increasing the resilience of the republic's healthcare system.
One of the key topics of discussion was the mechanisms for procuring medicines and medical devices through the UN system. Steps for centralized procurement aimed at ensuring the availability of quality medications at reasonable prices, as well as increasing the transparency and efficiency of procurement processes, were discussed. Progress was noted in the implementation of previously reached agreements and the formation of lists of necessary medicines and medical devices.
The minister expressed gratitude to UNDP for its support in implementing programs to combat tuberculosis and reform healthcare, emphasizing the importance of using international procurement mechanisms to optimize the use of public resources.
The meeting also addressed issues related to the transitional phase of implementing the grant from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. It was noted that in the next grant cycle, the Ministry of Health will be the main recipient of the grant, and work is underway to sequentially transition functions and strengthen national capacity in program management.
Furthermore, special attention was given to preparing an application for the new grant cycle and ensuring the sustainability of programs so that vulnerable population groups can continue to access diagnostics and treatment.
As a result of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further expand partnership to create a modern and effective healthcare system in Kyrgyzstan.
