By August 31, Bishkek is preparing for significant changes: the authorities are constructing the largest stadium in the region, planning to relocate government institutions outside the central part of the city, and developing new transportation solutions for quick access from the airport.
In an interview with the Interstate Television and Radio Company "Mir," the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Adylbek Kasymaliev, shared plans for the transformation of the capital and the improvement of transportation infrastructure.
By the Day of Independence of Kyrgyzstan, it is expected that residents and guests of the capital will be able to see the "new" Bishkek. On this day, the largest stadium in Central Asia, which can accommodate 51,000 spectators, will be opened. The opening ceremonies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and the World Nomad Games will take place at this venue, after which the main events will move to the shores of Issyk-Kul.
Alongside this, the construction of a new administrative cluster is underway, where the buildings of the Tax Service and the General Prosecutor's Office are being erected, with the intention of relocating most government agencies here.
Thus, the center of the city's administrative life will gradually shift beyond the current city square.
Special attention is also being paid to the development of the transportation network. Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that in the future, the creation of high-speed highways is being considered, including a direct route from the airport to the city that will have no obstacles. Currently, during meetings with official delegations, traffic is often blocked; however, there are plans to create a special dedicated lane to ensure unobstructed passage.
