At the World Boxing Championship taking place in Dubai, Kyrgyzstani boxer Omar Livaza won a silver medal. This was reported by the country's boxing federation.
In the final of the weight category up to 63.5 kilograms, Livaza lost to his opponent from Russia, Ilya Popov.
The tournament winner received a certificate worth $300,000, while the silver medalist received $150,000.
On his way to the final, Omar Livaza achieved victories over athletes from Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Zambia.
Additionally, another representative of Kyrgyzstan, Ikhtiyar Nishonov, won a bronze medal at the same championship.
