At the World Championship held in Dubai (UAE), the boxer from the Kyrgyzstan national team, Omar Livaza, won a silver medal. In the decisive match, he faced the Russian boxer Ilya Popov, losing and thereby taking second place.

Livaza became the first Kyrgyzstani to reach the finals at the World Boxing Championship for adults and received a silver medal.

It is worth noting that Kyrgyzstan was represented by 13 boxers in this tournament, two of whom managed to reach the semifinals, securing medals for themselves.

Another representative of Kyrgyzstan, Ikhtiyar Nishonov, competing in the weight category up to 71 kg, was unable to win his semifinal match and received a bronze medal.

The World Championship also provided cash prizes for participants: the winner receives $300,000, the silver medalist - $150,000, and the bronze medalist - $75,000. Additionally, athletes who finish in fifth place will receive $10,000 each.

The championship was organized by the International Boxing Association (IBA), which lost the right to conduct Olympic qualifiers and competitions in 2019 due to financial and management issues. In June 2023, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) stripped the association of its recognition status, which the IBA considered politically motivated. Currently, the IBA has 198 national federations as members.
