The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council has decided to implement the Concept for the Development of Tourism within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. This document outlines key directions for the tourism industry and proposes measures aimed at deepening economic cooperation, as well as increasing mutual tourist trips between the countries of the Union, as reported in the press release of the EAEU.
As part of the Concept, it is planned to develop joint tourism products, create new routes, and raise awareness about the tourism potential of EAEU states in both domestic and international markets. A special section on tourism is also planned to be opened on the Union's portal.
Tourism is considered a key factor for economic growth and job creation. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, in 2024 this sector will account for about 10% of global GDP and will provide one in ten jobs worldwide. In the EAEU countries, the share of tourism in GDP is around 3%, indicating significant potential for growth.
The implementation of this Concept is expected to lead to an increase in mutual tourist flows, enhance the contribution of the tourism sector to the economy, and promote infrastructure development and job creation in the countries of the Union.
