The tourism business reported a critical load on beach infrastructure
Deputy Minister of Economy Mederbek Tumanov reported on plans to regulate access to beach areas, which includes analyzing their capacity.
“Our goal is to review sanitary norms regarding beach capacity to organize the flow of tourists and evenly distribute them across the waters of Lake Issyk-Kul,” he noted.
Additionally, ideas are being discussed for allocating specific areas and regulating the use of beaches during the off-season to prevent pollution.
“Beach areas remain publicly accessible, regardless of investments in their infrastructure,” Tumanov added.
During the discussion, Aizhan Chynybaeva, chair of the supervisory board of the Eco Demi Foundation and owner of several tourist facilities, shared information about the overload of beach infrastructure and the conflicts that arise.
“Our pier accommodates a maximum of 300 people, but in reality, there are thousands. It physically cannot handle such a load,” she noted.
According to Chynybaeva, the influx of vacationers leads to disputes that sometimes require intervention from law enforcement agencies.
“People demand access, record videos, and conflicts arise. This negatively affects the country's image and can lead to a decrease in tourist flow,” she added.
She also pointed out the significant expenses businesses incur to ensure safety.
“We are obligated to maintain lifeguards and take responsibility for safety; however, the burden exceeds permissible norms,” she concluded.
Participants in the meeting emphasize the need to develop balanced solutions that take into account the interests of businesses and the requirements of legislation regarding free access to beach areas.
