In 2025, climbing became one of the most dynamically developing sectors in the tourism industry of Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by Erdenet Kasymov, the director of the Department of Tourism, in a program on Birinchi Radio.
According to him, climbing is already confidently becoming part of domestic tourism; however, the country still lacks a regulatory framework for this activity. In this regard, the possibility of including climbing in the new edition of the law "On Tourism" is being discussed, as well as the necessity of mandatory insurance for enthusiasts of extreme types of active recreation.
Kasymov noted that today, tourists aiming to conquer the peaks of Kyrgyzstan turn to private companies specializing in climbing. Both local and foreign guides and instructors operate in the country, offering various climbing programs and training. However, the absence of unified standards and control creates certain risks.
"It is necessary to establish the operation of tourism companies and instructors. If an accident occurs due to the actions of unprofessional organizations, it will negatively affect the country's image. This is precisely why we insist on increasing responsibility in this area and implementing licensing for small and medium-sized tourism businesses," emphasized Kasymov.
According to him, the new legislative initiative should guarantee the safety of tourists, improve the quality of services provided, and strengthen Kyrgyzstan's image as a reliable destination for extreme and mountain tourism.
