
The Kyrgyz National University has turned 100 years old
In Bishkek, the centenary of the Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn was celebrated. The Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev attended the ceremonial event.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, an exhibition dedicated to the university's 100th anniversary was held, along with the screening of a film and a theatrical performance.
On behalf of President Sadyr Japarov and the government, Kasymaliev congratulated the students, faculty, rector, and alumni of the university.
“This university has become the foundation for the Kyrgyz intelligentsia. Many outstanding individuals have received their education here, including 5 Heroes of the Kyrgyz Republic, 2 Heroes of Labor, 11 academicians, over 40 national poets and writers, 16 national teachers, and even one Olympic champion,” he noted.
Among the notable figures who worked at this university was Kasym Tynystanov, the founder of Kyrgyz literature; here studied Alykul Osmonov, a star of Kyrgyz poetry; and Turdakun Usubaliev, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kyrgyzstan.
“Our university is a source of knowledge, inspiration, and spiritual revival for the people,” added the Prime Minister.
