Sadyr Japarov, the president of the country, announced the introduction of a 14-month course on traffic rules, which will be exclusively aimed at high school students in grades 11-12. This initiative will become part of the educational program for youth.

The president pointed out the high accident rates in Kyrgyzstan, which are largely related to the fact that many drivers obtain their licenses without the necessary knowledge. He noted that "90 percent of drivers received their licenses illegally" and do not understand the basics of vehicle operation.

The development of this course is being carried out by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Traffic Safety Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The theoretical part of the classes will be conducted in schools, while practical lessons will take place in driving schools. The duration of the training will be 14 months, taking into account seasonal factors and time for retaking exams.

The president emphasized the necessity of knowing traffic rules for youth, stating: "We are all participants in road traffic, whether behind the wheel or as pedestrians."

As for adults, including students and working individuals, training will be organized in standard driving schools, and the course for them will be shorter and more intensive.

Japarov also reported that the practice of purchasing driver's licenses will be eliminated, and individuals who previously obtained licenses illegally will be required to retake the exams.
