President Sadyr Japarov announced the launch of a new 14-month program for teaching traffic rules, which is aimed specifically at high school students in grades 11-12. Students and adults will be able to undergo training in a different, more condensed format.

According to the president, this decision was made in light of the increasing number of traffic accidents. He emphasized that many drivers who hold licenses obtained them without sufficient knowledge, noting that "90 percent of drivers received their licenses illegally" and lack basic driving skills.

The course will be developed with the assistance of the Ministry of Education and the Traffic Safety Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The theoretical part of the classes will be conducted in schools, while practical lessons will take place in driving schools. The total duration of the course will be 14 months, taking into account seasonal features, weather conditions, and time for retaking exams.

The president added: "Whether we want it or not, we all participate in road traffic: some are behind the wheel, some are pedestrians. Therefore, knowledge of the rules will be extremely beneficial for the youth."

Japarov also noted that adults, including students and working individuals, will undergo training in regular driving schools, and for them, the course will be shorter and more intensive.

In addition, the president announced a ban on the purchase of driver's licenses. Individuals who previously obtained licenses illegally and violated the rules will be required to retake exams.
