In response to widespread complaints on social media from a citizen of Kyrgyzstan regarding difficulties in making appointments with the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs' migration service for extending temporary residence, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation stated that ongoing work is being conducted with Russian authorities at various levels. These meetings are aimed at discussing current issues related to the legal status of citizens of the republic.
According to the embassy, a videoconference took place on November 26, 2025, between the leadership of the Citizenship and Migration Registration Service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and representatives of diplomatic missions from CIS countries.
During this meeting, the Kyrgyz side appealed to their Russian colleagues with a request to consider the possibility of increasing the capacity of local migration departments to process applications from Kyrgyz citizens for extending their temporary residence periods.
Additionally, the embassy emphasized the necessity of strict adherence to Russian migration legislation and strongly recommended that citizens apply in advance for extensions of their stay, especially in light of the existing expulsion regime and the operation of the Register of Controlled Persons.
