Akhunbaev Isa Konoevich (1908-1975), Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences, Laureate of the State Prize of the Kirghiz SSR in the field of science and technology, Honored Doctor and Scientist of the Kirghiz SSR.Kyrgyz. Born in the village of Toru-Ayghyr in the Issyk-Kul region. Graduated from the Central Asian Medical Institute (Tashkent, 1935).
Worked as a doctor, Deputy People's Commissar of Health of the Kirghiz SSR, Head of Department, Rector of KGMI, Chairman of the Presidium of the Kirghiz SSR Academy of Sciences, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR.
Specialist in the field of surgery. Awarded the Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of the October Revolution, and the Badge of Honor (3). Posthumously awarded the Honorary Gold Medal "For Outstanding Scientific Achievements in the 20th Century".
Published over 300 scientific works. Under his supervision, 6 doctoral and 35 candidate dissertations were defended.
