- The specialists of the EDB have published recommendations for the development of warehouse infrastructure in the Eurasian region (EDB, 2025).

The document emphasizes that for the successful development of warehouse infrastructure, it is essential to eliminate bottlenecks and develop systemic solutions that promote trade, transit, and economic integration.

Analysts point out that when planning new facilities, it is important to consider local characteristics. The diversification of warehouse types should meet the needs of specific regions and industries.

"For example, regions focused on agricultural products primarily need refrigerated warehouses and agro-logistics centers. In countries with maritime transport, port terminals are relevant, while in densely populated cities, warehouses for 'last mile' delivery are necessary," explain EDB experts.

The authors of the study note that the placement of new warehouse facilities should be based on demand analysis and forecasting of cargo flows. This will ensure balanced infrastructure development in the Eurasian region and help avoid both shortages and surpluses of capacity.

In particular, according to the EDB, the Osh region of Kyrgyzstan has the potential to create a joint logistics park with Uzbekistan, which will allow refrigerated capacities to serve both countries.

This decision is based on the fact that the Fergana Valley (Uzbekistan/Kyrgyzstan/Tajikistan) is a region where three countries with high population density and intensive horticulture/vegetable growing intersect. A significant portion of Uzbekistan's fruit and vegetable production (Andijan and Fergana regions) and the southern part of Kyrgyzstan (Osh region) is produced here.
