In Kyrgyzstan, new approaches to systematic waste management are being developed. This was reported by Asel Raimkulova, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, at a meeting of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 9.

During the meeting, the committee heard a report on the activities of the Ministry of Natural Resources for the year 2025.

According to Raimkulova, in accordance with the reform of the waste management system, as per the Cabinet of Ministers' resolution No. 325, a state enterprise called "Ekooperator" has been established. This institution will be responsible for implementing the extended producer responsibility mechanism.

Currently, within the framework of this mechanism, over 74 million soms have been collected in the form of recycling fees.

In addition, standard rules for managing municipal waste have been adopted, and the Cabinet's resolution No. 821 has tightened the requirements for the disposal of used batteries and lubricants.

Furthermore, resolution No. 771 prohibits the burial of waste containing valuable components, which contributes to the development of recycling and reduces the burden on the environment, she added.
