The situation with the accumulation of trucks at certain border crossing points between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan has been commented on by the Eurasian Economic Commission. It has become known that the delays are caused by planned control measures being carried out by the Kazakh authorities.

Kazakhstan representatives reported that these enhanced inspections are temporary and targeted. Their goal is to restore order at the border, primarily to prevent the illegal circulation of goods that may threaten national security.

Kazakhstan emphasized that it highly values its good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan, considering it a strategic partner and ally. Kazakhstan hopes for understanding from Kyrgyzstan and for the continuation of joint efforts to combat illegal activities that could harm the economies of both countries and their international reputation.

The EEC noted that the measures being taken fall within the national competence of the EAEU member states and do not hinder the processes of Eurasian integration. Within the Union, a regime for the cancellation of various types of controls in mutual trade operates, except in cases explicitly stipulated by the EAEU law.

Furthermore, the commission added that combating the shadow circulation of goods remains one of the key priorities. To reduce risks and the need for additional inspections, mechanisms for navigation seals, tracking, and labeling of goods are being implemented, and efforts are underway to improve the quality of customs control.
