In Kyrgyzstan, 1.25 million hectares of land have been allocated for the harvest

Spring fieldwork is actively developing in Kyrgyzstan. As of early March 2026, the total area allocated for agriculture is 1.25 million hectares, which is higher than last year's figures. Of this area, 818 thousand hectares are irrigated lands, while 432 thousand hectares are rainfed lands.

Currently, the main focus of agricultural work is in the southern regions of the country and the Chui Valley. The Osh region demonstrates the highest rates of land cultivation, with over 17.7 thousand hectares already plowed. In the Chui and Jalal-Abad regions, 9.7 thousand and 2.1 thousand hectares have been cultivated, respectively. Overall, about 30 thousand hectares of arable land have been prepared across the country.

At the same time, in several regions, the sowing of spring cereal crops has begun, with more than 5.5 thousand hectares already allocated. About 2.5 thousand hectares are dedicated to wheat, with the highest activity observed in the farms of the Osh and Chui regions. Barley has been sown on more than 3 thousand hectares. Additionally, in the Jalal-Abad region, potato planting has started, while in the Osh region, vegetable sowing is underway.

According to the approved schedule, farmers in the Talas, Issyk-Kul, and Naryn regions will begin spring sowing later, depending on the establishment of favorable weather conditions. Relevant agencies are monitoring the progress of fieldwork daily to ensure the country's food security in the new season.
