"Golden" eggs in Kyrgyzstan - why are prices rising?

The situation has been explained by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry

In Kyrgyzstan, there has been an increase in prices for chicken eggs, with the cost of a dozen on markets and in supermarkets reaching 160-170 soms.

Many residents of the country have expressed concern on social media about the significant price increase and are wondering why eggs have become "golden."

The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry noted that the main reason for the price increase is the heightened demand from Kazakhstan and Russia, where there is also an increase in both wholesale and retail prices for this product.

The agency added: "There are also positive aspects for producers. Last year, prices were extremely low, which put many local entrepreneurs at risk. The price increase this year will help farmers restore their positions."

According to the ministry's information, Kyrgyzstan fully covers its needs for chicken eggs by 80%.
