According to him, the structure of fuel prices in Kyrgyzstan significantly depends on external factors, including the situation in the global oil market.
“Prices may rise, as the geopolitical situation in the world has a direct impact on the cost of oil and petroleum products. Since February 1, there has been an increase in prices — approximately by 30–40 tyiyns,” he explained.
Kanatbek Eshatov also noted that there are sufficient fuel reserves in Kyrgyzstan.
“At the moment, the fuel market is stable. Supplies of petroleum products are being carried out without interruptions, and according to our estimates, the available reserves of gasoline and diesel fuel will last for about two months,” he added.
He also pointed out that spring fieldwork has begun in the country, and the agricultural sector is fully supplied with the necessary volumes of lubricants. Fuel supplies continue as usual, and there is no shortage in the domestic market.
- As previously reported, since the beginning of last week, oil quotes have risen by more than 50 percent. This sharp change is caused by market participants' concerns about the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran, which is a key route for about 20 percent of the world's oil.
- The situation escalated after the start of attacks by Israel and the U.S. on Iran on February 28, when numerous air and missile strikes were carried out on cities and military facilities. In response, Tehran attacked Israeli and American military bases in various countries in the Middle East, resulting in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian officials and military personnel. U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of the military operation "Epic Fury" immediately after the first strikes in his video address.
- As a result of the attacks, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and about ten other high-ranking officials were killed. The new Supreme Leader of Iran has been appointed as the son of the slain Ayatollah, Mojtaba Khamenei.
