Trade of Kyrgyzstan: China and Russia Hold 63 Percent of Imports

According to the report from the National Statistical Committee published at the end of January 2026, China and Russia hold leading positions in the import of goods to Kyrgyzstan.

China accounts for 36.6 percent of the total import volume (which amounts to $338.6 million), while Russia's share is 26.4 percent ($244.3 million). The list of major suppliers also includes:

Imports from CIS countries have significantly increased by 27.4 percent, while the volume of supplies from far abroad has decreased by 6.1 percent.

Export Directions of Kyrgyzstan


Russia and Kazakhstan remain the main markets for Kyrgyz exports, accounting for 22 percent ($27.9 million) and 21.9 percent ($27.8 million) respectively. Uzbekistan ranks third with 13 percent ($16.5 million).

Interestingly, Switzerland is in fourth place with a share of 12.8 percent ($16.2 million), while China is only in fifth place, with 8.4 percent ($10.6 million).

In January 2026, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover amounted to $1 billion 52.9 million, which is 2 percent higher compared to the previous period.

However, the structure of foreign economic activity remains deficit: despite a 20.3 percent decrease in exports, imports increased to $926.1 million, leading to a negative balance of almost $800 million.

A high level of mutual trade with EAEU states (37.7 percent) contributes to a certain stability, but dependence on imports from third countries remains significant (62.3 percent).
