A teacher from Kyrgyzstan, Azamat Nurmatov, who was detained in Turkey, has returned to his homeland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on December 14.

With the assistance of the General Consulate of the Kyrgyz Republic in Istanbul and the State National Security Committee, he was able to change the measure of restraint, which allowed him to leave Turkey on December 10.

The agency noted that the issues that arose during the border and migration procedures at Istanbul Airport were successfully resolved with the support of diplomats. "Judicial proceedings in this case are ongoing," they added.

On April 19, the mathematics teacher from the H. Karasaev Lyceum went missing at Istanbul Airport while with seven students. They had arrived to participate in an international mathematics Olympiad in Antalya.

It later became clear that Nurmatov had been detained at the airport, prompting a response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, which delivered a verbal note to the Turkish embassy's consul regarding the situation.

On May 9, the teacher was released and placed under house arrest.
