The press service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) provided additional information about Nurlan Zholdoshbekovich Umетов, Raziya's son.
According to intelligence sources, Nurlan was born in 1992 in the Jalal-Abad region. He previously had legal issues and, according to law enforcement data, was one of the leaders of a youth group in his area. He later went to Russia in search of work, and as reported by the SCNS, he was recruited by representatives of the international terrorist organization "Katiba Imam al-Bukhari" in 2014-2015. After that, Umетов went to Turkey, and then he was sent to the Syrian province of Idlib, where he became part of this group.
While in Syria, Nurlan underwent training and participated in battles against government forces. As a result of these conflicts, he was killed. Since 2016, Umетов has not been in contact with his relatives and was soon placed on an international wanted list for participating in hostilities in foreign territory.
In light of this tragedy, the SCNS urges citizens to be cautious and not to succumb to the influence of banned international terrorist and extremist groups.
“Today, radical terrorist organizations continue to use modern technologies and social networks to recruit citizens. Their methods are often based on psychological impact, disinformation, and manipulation of vulnerable individuals,” the press service stated.
