President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, has approved a decree on the establishment of an embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Egypt.
According to the decree, in order to assist in expanding political, trade, cultural, and scientific-technical ties with the Arab Republic of Egypt, the following is provided:
1. To establish the embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the capital of Egypt — Cairo.
2. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic:
1) to increase the staffing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by 5 new positions;
2) to address issues related to the organizational support and financing of the embassy's operations in Egypt;
3) to adjust its decisions in accordance with this decree.
3. Control over the implementation of the decree is assigned to the department responsible for monitoring the execution of the decisions of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers in the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
4. The decree will be officially published and will come into force on January 1, 2026.
The establishment of the embassy is aimed at strengthening political, economic, investment, scientific, educational, and cultural ties between Kyrgyzstan and Egypt, as well as providing consular services to approximately 3,000 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic residing in Egypt and neighboring countries in North Africa.
The opening of the embassy in Egypt will be an important step in the implementation of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy strategy on the African continent, as well as in expanding diplomatic presence and diversifying international relations.
