In the Issyk-Kul region, law enforcement agencies detained a driver who hit a pedestrian and left the scene of the accident. This became known from a press release by the Traffic Safety Department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Issyk-Kul region.

According to the agency's information, the incident occurred at night on January 30, 2026, around 21:45 on the access road to the village of Chyrak in the Jeti-Oguz district. An unknown driver in an unfamiliar vehicle struck a pedestrian—a citizen of China, born in 1969, with the surname S. L.—who was walking along the roadside. After the collision, the driver fled the scene.

To establish the driver's identity, special posts were organized, and operational search activities were initiated throughout the region. As a result of these measures, the head of the traffic police of the Jeti-Oguz district, A. Usubakunov, together with the inspector of the regional traffic police search group, E. Turdakhunov, detained the driver, identified as S. S. D., born in 2004 and a resident of the Jeti-Oguz district. He was driving a "Toyota Avensis." The vehicle was placed in a towing lot, and the driver was handed over to the investigative authorities.
