Kyrgyzstan and the United Kingdom discussed joint projects and access to capital markets in London

On February 26, a meeting took place in London between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev and the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland Yvette Cooper. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

During the negotiations, issues regarding the state and future directions of bilateral and multilateral cooperation were discussed. The ministers confirmed their intention to deepen Kyrgyz-British relations, which includes expanding political dialogue, developing trade and investment interactions, as well as strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties. Both sides expressed interest in regular exchanges of delegations at the levels of parliaments and governments.

Kulubaev positively assessed the current state of bilateral relations, noting joint projects such as the cement materials production plant being built by the British company "United Concrete Canvas," as well as the credit line provided by the UK Government's Export Credit Agency to finance investment initiatives. Cooperation with British financial institutions on sovereign credit ratings and access to international capital markets, the implementation of English law in the Kyrgyz Republic, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on critically important mineral resources, and the implementation of a program for the employment of seasonal workers from Kyrgyzstan were also discussed.

However, Kulubaev expressed concern about unilateral restrictive measures that could negatively affect the development of trade and financial relations between the two countries. He emphasized the need for a more constructive and balanced approach from the United Kingdom and confirmed Kyrgyzstan's readiness for open and mutually beneficial dialogue.

The ministers also discussed international and regional issues, as well as the cooperation of the two countries within various international organizations and regional associations.
