The Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan reports that over 40,700 km of SIP cable will be laid in Bishkek.

The preparation of electrical networks for the winter season of 2026–2027 will begin in the capital with phased work. As part of the activities conducted by the Bishkek branch of JSC "NESC," major works are planned for the modernization of the city's electricity network infrastructure.

In 2026, it is planned to complete the laying and updating of over 40,700 km of SIP cable in Bishkek. The work will be carried out from March to November and will cover the most important sections of the electrical networks.

The work is distributed by districts as follows:

▪️ Eastern RES — 4.5 km

▪️ Western RES — 21,420 km

▪️ Northern RES — 19,272 km

The main areas of work include:

• updating outdated power transmission lines

• replacing old wires with modern insulated SIP

• installing new supports and reinforcing existing structures

• connecting new customers and developing networks in residential areas

• reducing the load on existing lines

• decreasing technological losses of electricity

Increasing reliability during the winter period will be a key aspect of the project. Special attention is given to the resilience of electrical networks to winter conditions.

The use of SIP cable will allow:

• to avoid snow accumulation and ice formation

• to reduce the likelihood of short circuits

• to ensure stable power supply even in adverse weather conditions

The implementation of this project is expected to have a positive effect:

• improvement of the quality and stability of power supply

• significant reduction in accidents in the networks

• decrease in electricity losses during transmission

• ensuring reliable operation of the energy system in winter

• creating conditions for connecting new consumers

The planned work will significantly increase the capacity of electrical networks, reduce the level of accidents and electricity losses, ensuring consumers with reliable and quality power supply during the autumn-winter load periods. The financing of these activities will be carried out from the own funds of JSC "NESC."
