Starting from December 1, 2025, a new Directory of Essential Medicines will come into effect as part of the Additional Mandatory Health Insurance (MHI) program.
According to the Federal Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund (FOMS), the updated directory revises the compensation amounts for medications that can be obtained through preferential programs at pharmacies at the outpatient level.
An expert group conducted an analysis and included seven international non-proprietary names (INN) in the directory, among which are medications for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, antimicrobial agents, diuretics, tranquilizers, and drugs for medical abortion.
To obtain preferential medicines under the Additional Package, it is necessary to consult a family doctor, who, after the consultation, will be able to issue an electronic prescription. These medications can be purchased with a discount of up to 50% at pharmacies cooperating with the MHI Fund.
