At a meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues, deputy Ulukbek Karybek uulu reported cases of extortion of money at the Osh regional hospital, where patients were asked to pay after surgery.

During the discussion, a statement from one of the patients, who was present at the meeting along with representatives of the Ministry of Health, was voiced. According to her, on the first day of her stay in the hospital, her mother paid 17,000 soms, and later she was asked for another 2,000 soms for anesthesia and 2,700 soms for other medical services. "After the surgery, practically no one monitored the patient; she was coming to after the anesthesia, and in the ward, they also reported that money was being demanded from them," the deputy quoted the patient's words, urging the Ministry of Health to pay attention to this problem.

He emphasized the importance of protecting patients' rights and the need to combat corrupt schemes in healthcare.

The First Deputy Minister of Health noted that while there are isolated cases of violations among medical staff, the ministry is focused on fighting corruption. As part of addressing this issue, there are plans to increase salaries for medical workers, and this matter will be considered further.

The deputy also called for attention to the situation in maternity hospitals, where pregnant women and new mothers often face extortion.
