Damirbek Osmonov, acting Minister of Health, voiced his ideas for improving the staffing situation in the healthcare sector.

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, parliamentarians discussed his candidacy for the ministerial position.

As Osmonov noted, attracting medical specialists to remote regions poses a serious problem, as many doctors prefer to work in cities, prioritizing their own comfort and the well-being of their families.

In his opinion, addressing this issue should begin at the training stage, especially during the residency period.

“Specialists who complete their residency receive diplomas, but they are not compensated for their training, and many are forced to finance it themselves. Therefore, it is important to provide residents with a salary and, after their training, send them to the regions for 1-2 years. This will help solve the problem of staff shortages,” he believes.
