Today, a meeting took place in Bishkek attended by the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Damir Osmonov, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan, Kim Kwan-jae.
During the conversation, issues regarding the current state and further development of cooperation in the field of healthcare between the two countries were discussed.
As the minister noted, Kyrgyzstan highly values its relationship with the Republic of Korea, emphasizing the importance of deepening mutually beneficial partnerships. The establishment of a Comprehensive Partnership, which will be officially formalized in December 2024, opens new horizons for cooperation in various sectors, including healthcare.
The interlocutors also discussed the upcoming "Central Asia - Republic of Korea" summit scheduled for 2026, which will serve as an important platform for strengthening strategic dialogue and practical interaction.
During the negotiations, emphasis was placed on the implementation of infrastructure projects in the healthcare sector supported by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund. In particular, work continues on the construction of the Republican Clinical Infectious Disease Hospital, and a project for the modernization and construction of a new building for the National Hospital is being prepared as part of the concept of creating a "Medical Town".
Damir Osmonov emphasized the significance of cooperation in training medical personnel. Kyrgyz specialists are undergoing training under programs supported by the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare, including the international Lee Jong-wook Fellowship Program, which allows them to familiarize themselves with modern medical technologies and advanced management practices.
Additionally, the Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude for the regular medical missions and humanitarian assistance from Korea aimed at supporting the population and developing the healthcare system.
