At this meeting, a preliminary analysis of the food basket was presented, and the possible expansion of the list of socially significant goods was discussed.

According to government information, the third week of November passed without an increase in prices for basic products. Compared to the previous year, prices for tomatoes decreased by 36.6%, and for cucumbers by 43.4%.

“As a result of the analysis of food inflation across all regions, we compiled a list of 30 products that have the greatest impact on price increases but are not yet considered socially significant. This list includes various types of meat, fresh fish, apples, pears, lemons, tea, cheese, cold-smoked mackerel, bananas, tomatoes, cucumbers, and other products. There are products in this list with a high share of imports, as well as those that affect monthly rather than annual inflation. We identified 23 items that could be considered for inclusion in the list of socially significant goods. Now we will discuss these proposals with the business community,” noted Aizhan Bizhanova.

If the list is expanded, businesses will be required to comply with requirements that include transaction transparency, the presence of contracts, invoices, fiscal receipts, and a trade markup of no more than 15%.

Serik Zhumangarin instructed the Ministry of Trade, associations, and the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken" to discuss each product with entrepreneurs and analyze the structure of imports. Final decisions will be made after the consultations are completed.
