As part of this initiative, 22 portable ultrasound machines and 22 fetal monitors were delivered for a total of ₮1.864 billion. These devices will now be used in medical centers in 20 somons and two remote districts of the capital.

Ultrasound diagnostics and monitoring of fetal heart activity are crucial in obstetric practice. Pregnant women should undergo at least four ultrasound examinations during their pregnancy, starting from the eighth month, and it is also important to monitor the fetal heart activity.

These devices allow for the timely identification of fetal development issues and direct women to specialized medical facilities, significantly improving the quality of healthcare for mothers and their children.

Training for medical personnel on the use of this equipment was conducted at the Örgöö Maternity Hospital located in Ulaanbaatar, aimed at enhancing the qualifications of specialists.

Cardiology and Telemedicine Initiative in Mongolia

Since 2001, Luxembourg has actively supported Mongolia's efforts to combat cardiovascular diseases. The main goal of the project is to strengthen the healthcare system addressing these diseases, with a focus on innovation and prevention, including the use of telemedicine, which is particularly relevant for Mongolia, where large distances between settlements create challenges in accessing medical care.

The initiative aims to reduce mortality from cardiovascular diseases through improved diagnostics, prevention, and treatment. It supports the implementation of the national plan for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and develops the surgical capabilities of the National Cardiological Center.

The project is being implemented with the support of LuxDev in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Mongolia and the National Cardiological Center. It covers both urban and rural areas, ensuring equal access to medical care.

The direct beneficiaries of the project include hospitals in 21 aimags and 9 districts of Ulaanbaatar, as well as staff from the National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases. The ultimate beneficiaries are all citizens of Mongolia, including women, men, and children suffering from cardiovascular diseases.
